The basic module of the BAS-02 is the new IB-05 Analysis Assembly. The IB-05 contains the ultra-high accuracy model UR-21 in-line refractometer for the Brix measurement, which is now also sensitive enough to measure the concentration of diet flavors. The IB-05 also includes the model UC-04 carbonation analyzer, which measures the amount of CO2 gas or carbonation dissolved in the beverage. These two analyzers are assembled on a stainless steel frame, together with a pump to circulate a sample of the beverage from the process line going to the filler. The IB-05 Assembly also includes a small microprocessor-based instrument panel on the frame assembly, which receives the signals from each analyzer and computes the final values of Brix, diet and carbonation. The analyzer assembly includes all of the usual electronic output signals, alarm relay contacts and digital displays that the customers need.

The BAS-02 system also includes automatic
controllers for the Brix and the CO2 values. This optional equipment takes the signals from the IB-05 analyzer assembly panel, and automatically makes small adjustments to the existing proportioning and carbonating equipment when needed to optimize the syrup yield or CO2 consumption, and keep the values continuously in specification. The controller option is custom-built as needed for the individual equipment on each line.

In addition to the IB-05 assembly, which is installed on each beverage line between the carbonation tank and the filler, the BAS-02 system now includes a PC computer for the laboratory which communicates with multiple IB-05 assemblies (as well as the earlier models IB04 and IB01). The software running on the
MultiLab-III computer allows the quality control personnel to view and change all the settings at each IB-05 panel remotely from the lab. The software also includes a sophisticated data acquisition program, which continuously collects all of the information of interest to the bottlers and stores it in a daily historical file on the computer's hard disk.
